In partnership with the United Way of South Hampton Roads, AmericaServes welcomes Mission United South Hampton Roads as the tenth affiliated AmericaServes network supporting area military connected members, veterans and their families.
Mission United South Hampton Roads, an innovative network for coordinating service providers, is bringing together federal, state and community providers in new ways to better support South Hampton Roads, Virginia, area veterans, service members and their families.
This new South Hampton Roads area initiative is part of a broader national effort, AmericaServes, funded in part by the Walmart and Schultz Family Foundations and is shepherded collectively by Syracuse University’s Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF), Accenture, and Unite US, which aim to better address the needs of service members, veterans, and their families through streamlined access to high quality providers on a coordinated basis.
The South Hampton Roads network will provide integrated coordination and care to thousands of veterans currently covered by a patchwork of federal, state, local government and nonprofit service providers. The approach draws from best practices of established “Serves” networks in New York, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, Washington State, and San Antonio, as well as additional networks being considered for Texas, Florida, the District of Columbia, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
